PYONGYANG CITY ASSETS - SIDESHOWBOB UPDATE
Today's news update centres around the fantastic city assets that were created for CryRecon a few months ago by talented Crymod community modeller SideShowBob. He has recently begun texture work on this large collection of assets and we would like to present some early in-game renders from the first few finished buildings. We will be bringing you more updates on these at a later date. Many thanks to SideShowBob for his great contribution to CryRecon!

A-10 WARTHOG
Another update today to showcase the new A-10 Warthog that Mong0ose is currently working on. The A-10 will supply Close Air Support for the player via both its GAU-8 cannon and the AGM-65 Mavericks that it carries. Also detailed below is a short work in progress concept video testing out some ideas for the GAU-8 cannon run.

CRYRECON NEEDS YOU - C++ PROGRAMMER POSITION








CryRecon is now looking for a new C++ programmer to join the team. Our previous code guru MadScientist is now unfortunately too busy with real life to assist with the mod any longer. We wish him all the best with everything he has coming up over the next few months and thank him greatly for his fantastic contribution to the team thus far. He will remain and assist us with various coding jobs when he has the time for them but we are now seeking somebody to fill his shoes as lead programmer for CryRecon.

The requirements of the position are as follows:

  • The ability to write new code and edit existing source code.
  • Capable of taking concepts and creating fully working system from them.
  • A strong history of C++ coding with previous work to show.
  • Previous experience with coding for game engines is preferable although not essential.

If you feel you could fulfil this position then please get in contact with me as soon as possible by either signing up on our forums and making a new post with your contact details, emailing me via the webmail form found on our site or by sending a Crymod PM over at www.crymod.com to myself Fortran. This is a great opportunity to add to your portfolio of work by taking the lead in the programming development for a well respected modification.

MONG0OSE ASSET SHOWREEL
Another quick update today, this time to present an asset showcase video Mong0ose has been working on. This details many of the fantastic weapon models and vehicles he has created for CryRecon. We will be posting another update to this in the near future as more assets are added to the reel.

GENERAL CONNELL : NAMPO MISSION BRIEF CONCEPT
Well this will be our final update before the Christmas holidays. Recently our lead vocal talent DoomMunky recorded the mission briefing for the Nampo naval base map and we would like to present this for you, complete with some syncing. Because of the unfortunate bug in 1.2 I had to render out the lypsync using a different method, however when I downgrade to do the rest of the scipt syncing I will fix all the little mistakes that are currently apparent.

Anyway here is an ingame concept video of the briefing. Animations will be customized when we get closer and also possibly a brand new character model for General Connell.

BARRETT M468 - TEXTURE UPDATE
Just though I would give you guys a quick update on what we are currently working on. Aside from a new map which includes a large collection of custom assets we are also pushing forward with the weaponry. Mong0ose has been hard at work modelling a huge variety of guns for the mod, a selection of which will be featured in the next update.

Anyway, today's update is an update on the Barrett M468 model which was posted before. Texture work is nearing completion and we now have the addition of the Eotech 557 model + textures.

You may notice the weapon is currently sporting the FY-71's clip, this is just for testing until the "real" clips texture is completed.

AH-1W
Updating today with another beautiful model from team member Mong0ose, this time featuring the AH-1W helo. This will be utilized in CryRecon as a support vehicle, bringing firepower to the battlefield as and when you need it. This may be developed into the AH-1Z varient at some point.

CRYSIS/CRYRECON KNIFE CONCEPT
Well thought I would take a break from the mountain of UVW work im currently hacking away at lol to try and concept a Knife for both Crysis and CryRecon. The model is currently untextured and the animations criminally simple, but I just wanted to get a model ingame to concept the actual mechanics of a knife for the engine. It is absolutely alpha but the concept itself works fine. Seeing as it seems to be such a heavily requested asset over Crymod I will also be releasing a community version for the guys over there. Animations are just placeholders for now so please ignore them in the video below.

BARRETT M107 CRYMOD COMMUNITY WEAPON







Well this is not strictly CryRecon news but I thought I would replicate it here for all those who are not currently members of CryMod. For the past 2 months I have been creating a community release of the famous Barrett M107 sniper rifle. The weapon is now complete (To Beta) and is availiable to download over at CryMod. WELCOME THEMEGAMASTER
05/10/08 WELCOME TEAM MEMBER THEMEGAMASTER

Just a brief update today to welcome our latest team member TheMegaMaster. Many of you will have seen his fantastic mapping work over at CryMod on the Crysis Wars Mappack he is currently creating, which includes maps such as Africa, Station & Bog. We are very happy to have his talent on the team and he joins CrazyEyezKillah on our mapping team.

WARHEAD ENGINE
After some initial discussion amongst the team we are currently agreed that CryRecon will most likely become exclusive to the new version of CE2 which is now shipping with the fantastic sequel to Crysis, "Warhead". The new version of the engine is highly optimized, producing major increases in FPS and also introduces many advances including those related to AI. Unfortunately at the moment the SDK and toolset for the Warhead version of CE2 is yet to be released, but once it is CryRecon will be moving to this new version of the engine.

We are aware that the majority of Crysis owners will also make the move to purchase Warhead now it is released and therefore the current fanbase for CryRecon will still retain the means to play the Mod when it is released.

As a short side note to this info, we are now currently only 3 or 4 weapons away from our demo quota, the demo map is already in production. We are now hoping for a playable demo of CryRecon before 2008 is finished.

BEOWULF .50 ASSAULT RIFLE
Yet another exciting update from team modeller Mong0ose. This time it is the .50 calibre Beowulf assault rifle. The Beowulf is a modified M4 carbine rifle capable of firing a 50 cal shell in full auto. This weapon is truly the equalizer in any firefight.

OH-6 CAYUSE HELICOPTER
A fantastic update from team member Mong0ose detailing the OH-6 Cayuse helicopter that will be used as both an insertion/extraction vehicle and also as helicopter gunship support for the player. The 2 varients shown below will fulfil both these roles in-game.
